Web 3.0 refers to the third generation of the web with a focus on decentralized public ledger blockchains, cryptocurrency, tokenized projects, and decentralized applications such as dApps. The term Web 3.0 and Web3 were coined in 2014 by Ethereum (ETH) and Polkadot (DOT) co-founder Gavin Wood. One notable feature of Web3 is the ability for users to own and control their own data and digital assets. Central to Web 3.0 technology is the blockchain which facilitates the ownership of virtual assets including cryptocurrencies, digital tokens, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). These digital assets can be owned and used inside AR, VR, video games, and metaverse worlds. Decentralized Web3 technologies give users much more control and power than corporate centralized Web 2.0 technology. Web3 is happening right now, It’s the future of the internet!
