Back to glossary

The Bitcoin blockchain is comprised of versioned binary data structures called blocks which are organized in chronological order. Bitcoin blocks contain two main components; the transaction block and the block header. The Bitcoin “transaction block” stores all the transactions that occurred during the approximate 10-minute time span between creating the next block. Every Bitcoin transaction block is built upon and aware of the previous transaction blocks.
