A “Semi-Fungible Token” is a new cryptocurrency token that can trade as both a fungible and non-fungible token. For the first portion of the token’s existence, it can hold a fungible value and be traded as like-kind with other SFTs. Once the token is “redeemed,” it loses its fungible value and is converted into a Non-Fungible Token. SFTs are currently being minted using the ERC-1155 token standard developed by closely studying the ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards.
