A “reveal” in the context of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) refers to when the actual image artwork for an NFT gets displayed or released. In some scenarios, the NFT art will not be displayed until the mint is complete. For example, there are generative art NFT collections where the buyer does not get to see the NFT artwork until their purchase and mint are complete. In some scenarios, the art will not be displayed until the entire collection sells. Sometimes the artist will use a “delayed reveal” whereby the same placeholder image is used in the whole pack during minting only to reveal the actual NFT artwork after the group sells out. Some NFT traders and investors prefer delayed reveal scenarios since it can drive up prices and liquidity on the secondary markets since market participants still don’t know the rarity status of each NFT.
