An Ethereum Keystore file is an encrypted version of your Ethereum private key, which is created by combining your private key and your password resulting in an encrypted version of your private key. This new password-protected private key can be used instead of the private key. The Ethereum Keystore file is stored in the JSON file format with the filename UTC + format.
