In the world of DeFi and smart contracts, many protocols rely on continuous updates of chain states. Since a smart contract is not capable of triggering or initiating a function based on arbitrary conditions, it must rely on external software entities to initiate state updates. Keepers are externally owned accounts that are financially incentivized to perform maintenance functions in a trustful and decentralized manner.
