The most common types of NFT digital artwork to date are image files. Many critics of crypto artwork and NFTs often say that NFT investors are “just buying JPEGs” or that users can just “right click and save as JPEG”. While some of the discussion around NFTs does use the term JPEG, its important to remember that a piece of NFT image artwork can be any image file format, including JPEG, PNG, or GIFs. There is nothing special about the file format of JPEG as it relates to Non-Fungible Tokens.
