Back to glossary

An Initial DeFi Offering (IDO) is a decentralized and permissionless crowdfunding method of setting the exchange rate for a new token using a DEX. When launching a new token directly to a decentralized liquidity exchange (DEX) the user becomes the first liquidity provider on the new pair. IDOs are an extremely cost-effective new token sale and listing model. By utilizing a popular DEX such as Uniswap, an IDO provides fast liquidity with almost no transaction slippage.
