A finney is a denomination of Ether equal to 103 ETH (0.001 ETH), named after early Bitcoin developer Hal Finney. Finney and other Ether sub-units (such as szabo, gwei, and wei) are used to express smaller values of ETH for pricing, fees, and on-chain accounting. In practice, most user-facing interfaces today quote values directly in ETH or gwei instead of finney.
