Back to glossary

The term “Dox” is a slang term related to the term “docs” and refers to the compilation and release of a personal dossier of private and confidential information, including a person’s full legal name, contact information, and various data such as social security number and date of birth. A Dox is often done as a form of a malicious attack against a person. Within the world of NFTs and new crypto projects, many people are concerned and aware of the potential for scams, theft and fraud. That said, if an NFT artist or cryptocurrency developer is “Doxxed” and their identity and contact information are known to the community, this dramatically reduces the potential for fraud since these people can be traced and tracked and potentially held accountable for any fraud or illegal activity.
