A “crypto coin” is a cryptocurrency unit from independent blockchains, such as Bitcoin or Litecoin. Cryptocurrency coins are a digital medium of exchange and can also transfer value from one person to another. Crypto coins differ from tokens in that tokens often have additional utility beyond a currency, including the ability to store data and even run software on top of the token’s blockchain.
