Altcoin

Altcoins are “Alternative Coins” and describe any non-bitcoin cryptocurrency. People who called “Bitcoin Maximalists” within the global cryptocurrency ecosystem believe that Bitcoin is the most significant cryptocurrency project. These bitcoin-focused enthusiasts consider all other altcoins inferior to Bitcoin. Many altcoin projects are, in fact, software forks of major coins. For example, the altcoin Litecoin is a fork of Bitcoin.
